The electric car market is changing rapidly. My intention with the first edition was to provide an easy to digest intro to electric cars with an update every two years. I expect the second edition to be out by the end of the year.
The world is changing regarding its outlook toward electric cars. China, the largest new car automotive market in the world, has issued one of the strongest mandates yet to automakers – eight percent of all new cars must be zero-emission electric or fuel-cell vehicles, or partial zero-emission plug-in hybrids by 2019 with that number going to twelve percent two years later. This will likely be revised prior to its implementation. Other countries have also implemented zero-emission requirements that are due to be implemented over the next several decades. As a result, more EVs will be produced by more automakers than ever before.
Look for future updates to The Electric Car to be released annually to keep pace with these rapid changes.
